12-C13 Lactulose is a synthetic monosaccharide that is used in the preparation of complex carbohydrates. This compound can be modified by fluorination or methylation. It has an average molecular weight between 350 and 500 Da. 12-C13 Lactulose can be synthesized from D-galactopyranose and C2-C3 alkyl bromides, which are readily available commercially.

Carbon-13 isotope of the disaccharide lactulose, used primarily as a research tool for metabolic tracing. It features 12 Carbon-13 atoms, making it ideal for in vivo studies of carbohydrate metabolism, gut permeability, and, in some cases, as a biomarker in breath tests.
