Storage
Lyophilized protein should be stored at < -20°C, though stable at room temperature for 3 weeks. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 4-7°C for 2-5 days. Aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable at < -20°C for 3 months.
Ephrin type-A receptor 2 (EphA2) belongs to the Eph receptor tyrosine kinase family which binds Ephrins A1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. The ephrins and Eph receptors are implicated as positional labels that may guide the development of neural topographic maps. They have also been found involved in embryonic patterning, neuronal targeting, vascular development and adult neovascularization. Furthermore, elevated expression of Eph receptors and ephrin ligands is associated with tumors and associated tumor vasculature, suggesting the Eph receptors and ephrin ligands also play critical roles in tumor angiogenesis and tumor growth. EphA2 is upregulated in breast, prostate, and colon cancer vascular endothelium. Its ligand, EphrinA1, is expressed by the local tumor cells. In some cases, EphA2 and EphrinA1 are expressed in the same blood vessels. EphA2 signaling cooperates with VEGF receptor signaling in promoting endothelial cell migration.
