4°C/-20°CThe pituitary glycoprotein hormone family includes follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, chorionic gonadotropin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone. All of these glycoproteins consist of an identical alpha subunit and a hormone-specific beta subunit. This gene encodes the beta subunit of follicle-stimulating hormone. In conjunction with luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone induces egg and sperm production. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same protein.
Sample Type:
Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates
Intended Use:
For the quantitative determination of sheep follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) concentrations in serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates.
Sensitivity:
1mIU/ml
Range:
2-70mIU/ml
Specificity:
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of sheep FSH. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between sheep FSH and analogues was observed.
Test Principle:
This BioAssay™ employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for FSH has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells with a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated antibody specific for FSH. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FSH bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
