Application InfoELISA Capture: JES10-5A2 monoclonal antibody is useful as a capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying human IL-13 protein levels. 1, 2 Purified JES10-5A2 antibody should be paired with biotinylated JES2E10 antibody (OASB01232) as the detection antibody, with purified recombinant human IL-13 as the standard. Immunofluorescence/Flow Cytometry: JES10-5A2 antibody is useful for intracytoplasmic staining and flow cytometric analysis to identify and enumerate IL-13-positive cells within mixed cell populations. Recombinant human IL-13, or Rat IgG1 (OASB012111) should be used as a specificity control. Western Blotting: The purified JES10-5A2 antibody is also useful for Western blotting applications. A concentration of 1-5ug/mL (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig, OASB01897) has been found to enable detection of <= 100 ng/lane of recombinant human IL-13 under reducing conditions. Neutralization: The LE/AF form of JES10-5A2 can be used for neutralizing human IL-13 bioactivity. A suitable LE/AF Rat IgG1 (OASB00095) should be used as an isotype control. Since applications vary, each investigator should determine the optimal concentration appropriate for individual applications.
Storage- The purified (UNLB) antibody is supplied as 0.5 mg purified immunoglobulin in 1.0 mL of 100 mMborate buffered saline, pH 8.2. No preservatives or amine- containing buffer salts added. Store at 2- 8 C
- The low endotoxin, azide- free (LE/AF) antibody is supplied as 0.5 mg purified immunoglobulin in 1.0 mLof PBS. Aliquot and store at or below - 20 C
- Protect conjugated forms from light. Aliquot and freeze the low endotoxin, azide- free product at - 20 Cimmediately upon receipt. Each reagent is stable for the period shown on the bottle label if stored asdirected.

Gene SymbolIL13
Gene Full NameInterleukin-13
Alias SymbolsP600, IL-13
NCBI Gene Id3596
Protein Nameinterleukin-13
Description of TargetThis gene encodes an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. This cytokine is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. This cytokine down-regulates macrophage activity, thereby inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. This cytokine is found to be critical to the pathogenesis of allergen-induced asthma but operates through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils. This gene, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with this gene particularly close to IL4.
