Keratan Sulfate (CHST1) Antibody – Mouse Monoclonal
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS605265Aggrecan is the major proteoglycan of human articular cartilage. The core protein is substituted by a number of keratan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycan chains. Whereas chondroitin sulfate is widely distributed throughout the body, keratan… More details

Purified by Protein G affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human Keratan-Sulfate. Preliminary results, based on western Blot of keratan sulfate from different sources, indicate specificity for keratan sulfate from articular cartilage. Minimal if any crossreactivity with keratan sulfate from intervertebral disc. This is in contrast to the epitope recognized by K0197, which recognizes a widely distributed keratan sulfate epitope. Well suited for detecting keratan sulfate fragments released during human inflammatory or degenerative joint diseases into synovial fluid and serum.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

NCBI Summary for CHST1
This locus encodes a member of the keratin sulfotransferase family of proteins. The encoded enzyme catalyzes the sulfation of the proteoglycan keratin. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
UniProt Comments for CHST1
CHST1: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the transfer of sulfate to position 6 of galactose (Gal) residues of keratan. Has a preference for sulfating keratan sulfate, but it also transfers sulfate to the unsulfated polymer. The sulfotransferase activity on sialyl LacNAc structures is much higher than the corresponding desialylated substrate, and only internal Gal residues are sulfated. May function in the sulfation of sialyl N- acetyllactosamine oligosaccharide chains attached to glycoproteins. Participates in biosynthesis of selectin ligands. Selectin ligands are present in high endothelial cells (HEVs) and play a central role in lymphocyte homing at sites of inflammation. Belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family. Gal/GlcNAc/GalNAc subfamily.
