Maltose

(Synonyms: maltobiose, malt sugar, D-Maltose, Beta-maltose) Copy Product Info
Maltose (maltobiose) is a reducing sugar, a disaccharide formed by two glucose units linked via a (1-4) bond. It functions as a carbon source, regulates osmotic pressure, and provides antioxidant properties. Maltose serves as an efficient carbon source for yeast, bacteria, and fungi.

In vitro
Methods: Construct maltase-deficient strain (dMalX2) and Maltose transporter-deficient strain (dMalX1). Add Maltose (55 μM - 22 mM) and incubate for 0-72 hours. Monitor growth via OD600 and observe cell morphology under a microscope.
Results: The inhibitory effect was dramatically enhanced in dMalX2 (Maltose-deficiency), with complete growth inhibition observed at 55 μM Maltose; dMalX1 (transport-deficiency) exhibited no Maltose-induced effects (tolerant up to 22 mM).[1]
