| Characterization | To ensure acceptable performance, each batch of product is tested in a sandwich ELISA to conform tocharacteristics of a standard reference reagent. |
| Warning | Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact withskin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, washwith copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azideyields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide- containing compounds in running waterbefore discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing. |
| Application Info | ELISA: XMG1.2 monoclonal antibody can be used as a capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA for quantifying mouse IFN-Y protein levels. Biotinylated XMG1.2 antibody can be paired with a suitable purified capture antibody, with purified recombinant human IFN-Y as the standard. Western Blotting: The purified XMG1.2 antibody is also useful for Western blotting applications. For Western blotting, a concentration of 1-5ug/mL (in conjunction with AP-labeled Goat Anti-Rat-Ig, OASB01897) has been found to enable detection of <= 100 ng/lane of recombinant mouse IFN-Y under reducing conditions. Immunofluorescence/Flow Cytometry: XMG1.2 antibody is useful for intracytoplasmic staining and flow cytometric analysis to identify and enumerate IFN-Y -positive cells within mixed cell populations.4-6 Recombinant mouse IFN-Y or Rat IgG1 (OASB012111) should be used as a specificity control. FITC conjugated XMG1.2 antibodies are useful for intracellular staining in cells producing IFN-Y . Aviva intracellular staining buffers are recommended for this application. Neutralization: The LE/AF form of XMG1.2 can be used for neutralizing mouse IFN-Y bioactivity. A suitable LE/AF Rat IgG1 (OASB00095) should be used as an isotype control. Since applications vary, each investigator should determine the optimal concentration appropriate for individual applications. |

| Gene Symbol | IFNG |
| Gene Full Name | Interferon gamma |
| Alias Symbols | If, Ifg, If2f, IFN-g |
| NCBI Gene Id | 15978 |
| Protein Name | interferon gamma |
| Description of Target | This gene encodes a soluble cytokine that is a member of the type II interferon class. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The active protein is a homodimer that binds to the interferon gamma receptor which triggers a cellular response to viral and microbial infections. Mice deficient in this gene have increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and to several autoimmune diseases. |
