Trehalose C14

SKU: orb2942368

Description

Trehalose C14 is a synthetic trehalose lipid derivative in which a mycobacterial trehalose core is esterified with a C14 (myristoyl) fatty acid chain. The trehalose lipid structure mimics trehalose dimycolate (cord factor), a key glycolipid component of the mycobacterial cell wall. Trehalose C14 is used in biochemical research to study mycobacterial cell wall biosynthesis, host-pathogen interactions, and innate immune recognition via C-type lectin receptors such as Mincle. The well-defined chain length provides a simplified model system for investigating the physicochemical and immunological properties of trehalose glycolipids.
