Background: Norepinephrine, the scientific name 1-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl) -2-aminoethanol, is a substance formed by the removal of n-methyl from epinephrine, and is also a catecholamine in chemical structure. It is both a neurotransmitter, mainly synthesized and secreted by sympathetic postganglionic neurons and norepinephrine neurons in the brain, which is the main transmitter released by the latter, and a hormone, synthesized and secreted by the adrenal medulla, but in smaller amounts. The main source of norepinephrine in the circulating blood is the adrenal medulla.

Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on Competitive-ELISA detection method. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with NA/NE. During the reaction, NA/NE in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of NA/NE on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Antibody specific to NA/NE. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzymesubstrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm. The concentration of NA/NE in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve. The concentration of the target substance was inversely proportional to the OD450 value.
