Alkaline phosphatase (AP) is conjugated to Hippeastrum hybrid Lectin (HHL) to show the binding of HHL in many applications including Western blotting and ELISA. Alkaline phosphatase is a large protein (140kD) that catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate groups from a substrate resulting in a colored or fluorescent product. The optimal enzymatic activity of this protein is between pH 8 and 10, and its reaction rate remains linear, improving sensitivity over time.

Activity:
Agglutinates rabbit but not human erythocytes

Carbohydrate Specificity:
alpha-Mannose

Inhibitory Carbohydrate:
alpha(1,3) or alpha(1,6) linked mnnosyl units

Divalent Ions:
None Required

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
