Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and they functionally maintain the neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites.
This gene encodes the light chain neurofilament protein. Mutations in this gene cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease types 1F (CMT1F) and 2E (CMT2E), disorders of the peripheral nervous system that are characterized by distinct neuropathies. A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome Y. The neurofilament subunits occupy the class IV family of intermediate filaments, and was originally thought to contain only three proteins named NF-L, NF-M and NF-H.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 1:100-1:5000
Western Blot: 1:50-400
Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500
Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500
Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
