Modern drug discovery requires assay technologies that are fast, reliable, and scalable. However, many conventional screening methods still face critical limitations, including labor-intensive multi-step workflows, significant background interference that compromises data consistency and reproducibility, and limited throughput that restricts both large-scale screening and in-depth mechanistic studies.

In this webinar, we will examine how Time-Resolved Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (TR-FRET) effectively addresses these challenges. By combining time-resolved detection with a homogeneous, mix-and-read assay format, TR-FRET enables highly sensitive and reproducible measurements while supporting high-throughput workflows.

The session will introduce the core principles of TR-FRET, explain its superior signal-to-background performance, and highlight practical applications across drug screening, functional assays, and mechanism-of-action studies. Attendees will discover how TR-FRET can simplify assay development, increase screening capacity, and improve confidence in experimental results.

Overview

TR-FRET (Time-Resolved Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer) is a powerful homogeneous assay technology that combines the principles of time-resolved fluorescence with Förster resonance energy transfer. By using long-lifetime lanthanide donors and introducing a time delay before signal detection, TR-FRET dramatically reduces background interference from autofluorescence and light scattering, delivering an excellent signal-to-background ratio and high sensitivity.

Its mix-and-read format eliminates washing steps, simplifies workflows, and supports miniaturization and automation, making it ideal for high-throughput screening (HTS), functional assays, protein-protein interactions, kinase profiling, and mechanism-of-action studies. Attendees will gain practical insights into implementing TR-FRET to accelerate drug discovery programs while enhancing data quality and reproducibility.
