GelRed is a nucleic acid gel dye used for the visualisation of double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA and RNA in agarose and polyacrylamide gels. Combining high sensitivity, low weight and exceptional stability, it is designed to replace ethidium bromide (EtBr), which is a commonly used dye but is considered mutagenic and carcinogenic.
