OncoMiD®: Optimised Media for Primary Tumour Cell Culture

OncoMiD®: Optimised Media for Primary Tumour Cell Culture

The OncoMiD® culture media offer a solution for cultivating tumorous cells. These validated media support the transport and dissociation of tumor samples, enabling subsequent ex vivo culture. Suitable for all tumor subtypes, they provide valuable insights into tumor biology.

OncoMiD® culture media

Unique series of optimised media for the culture of primary breast, colon and ovarian cells

The specific transport media of the OncoMiD-Via® series have been specially developed to safely transport fresh tumour samples. It is crucial to maintain excellent viability of the cells contained in tumour samples during transport from the health care facility to the laboratory. To this end, Oncomedics has developed a series of cell type specific transport media that allow primary human tumour cells to remain viable for up to 48 hours post-surgery. OncoMiD-Via® media have been validated for the transport of:

  • Breast tumours
  • Colon/rectum tumours
  • Prostate tumours
  • Glyoblastoma tumours
  • Lung tumours
  • Ovarian tumours

The OncoMiD-Diss® dissociation media series is specifically optimised for dissociating human tumour samples. It allows the dissociation of tumour samples into individual cells, thus facilitating their entry into primary culture. Four tubes containing different products are required to initiate, control and stop tumour dissociation, combined with specific procedures for each cell type. The specific OncoMiD-Diss® media have been developed for the dissociation of tumours from:

  • Breast tumours
  • Colon/rectum tumours
  • Ovary tumours

The OncoMiD® series of culture media have been optimised to allow the preservation of dissociated tumour cells from human samples in primary culture. With a known and standardised composition, and not containing foetal calf serum, they have been formulated specifically for the ex vivo culture of tumour cells from human cancer samples. They allow the selection of cells of tumour epithelial origin over cells of the microenvironment and are suitable for all tumour subtypes. OncoMiD® specific media have been developed for tumour culture from:

  • Breast tumours
  • Colon/rectum tumours
  • Glyoblastoma tumours
  • Ovary tumours

The OncoMiD® defined culture media have been optimised in order to obtain, one week after dissociation and for all cancer subtypes of the pathology to be treated, a purified primary culture of tumour cells. During these 7 days, the high cell death observed reflects the selective elimination of cells from the microenvironment. The procedure is optimal when all media OncoMiD-Via® (ref. OMVIA1/2/3), OncoMiD-Diss® (ref. OMDIS1/2/3) and OncoMid® (ref. OMCULT1/2/3) are combined.
