Sterilizers for microbiology

Sterilizers for microbiology

The inoculation and culture of microorganisms must be done in a sterile environment to avoid introducing external microorganisms and falsifying the results. This sterility includes the media, the work surface and the instruments used (handles, pipettes, spreaders, forceps ...). In order to sterilize the instruments used in microbiology, there are different instruments, the best known being the Bunsen burner. We propose 2 types of sterilizers, infrared sterilizers and glass bead sterilizers. The glass bead sterilizers consist of a heating vessel in which glass beads are heated to more than 200°C. The instruments are immersed in the glass beads for a certain period of time in order to be sterilized through the micropropagation of heat by the glass beads. This type of instrument is capable of killing most fungi, bacteria and viruses. Infrared sterilizers can instantly sterilize various metal or glass instruments, they are ideal for the sterilization of handles and inoculation needles as well as glass pipettes.
